Parts of Madagascar use the Malagasi phrase ‘mora mora’ (slow slow) to suggest a laid back attitude. Around here it’s more an accurate description of how quickly I’m not getting back into the swing of things. Saturday’s initial burst of energy evaporated and I continue to crash somewhere between 7 and 8pm. Even last night’s glass class and the 1.25 pounds of Lauscha glass that D gave me for Christmas couldn’t keep me motivated. Luckily, every day is better; I might be 100% by the weekend providing the cold I seem to be developing goes no further. Unfortunately that’s not being helped by the temperature here. While I was gone someone broke Florida. It was 22 degrees a few days ago; I had to scrape ice off my windshield – with a credit card because it’s illegal to own an ice scraper south of Tampa. I know I’ll be getting no sympathy from those of you living north of me, especially as I rarely fail to share how warm it is here when you are freezing your bits off, but this is just silly. It simply isn’t supposed to get this cold in south Florida!
Other than being tired, behind at work and laundry there just isn’t much going on. Is there anything new in your neck of the woods?
About the photo: I believe this is a Paradise Flycatcher – or at least a very near relative. He was one of the first things we saw on our first day hike. I don’t know if it was too early and he wasn’t quite awake or if he was to terrified to move but we got so close to him we could have touched him.
